ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Mar 15 (PIA) –Firefighting and rescue drills make all the difference when calamities strike.

Hence, seventy- five college students from five schools in the province joined the 2nd Interschool Firefighting Drill and Rescue Olympics last March 15 at the Provincial Park here. 

Fire Marshal Lester Kenneth Gimotea of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – Roxas City said that the competition was aimed to enhance the emergency rescue skills of student-participants.

“If we are prepared, we can minimize the damage,” Gimotea stressed.

Participating schools included Hercor College, Colegio dela Purisima Concepcion (CPC), Filamer Christian University (FCU) and Capiz State University (CapSU) – Dayao, Roxas City and Dumarao, Capiz campuses.

For his part, Roxas City Councilor Powell A. Del Rosario encouraged the students to share with their classmates and friends what they will learn from the activity.

Dumarao Residents Avail of Basic Services; Livelihod Assistance

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Feb. 25 (PIA) – Some 68 Dumaraonons have availed of the local government unit’s (LGU)livelihood assistance.

Information Officer Janice de Asis of Dumarao town disclosed that low income families from the said municipality have availed of the piglet dispersal program of their local government.

De Asis added that said beneficiaries come from the 33 barangays of Dumarao, where each program recipient are required to pay the amount of P2,200 after six months from the time of dispersal.

She also said that a water system both levels I and I were already established in Barangays Alipaciawan, Janguslob, Agtubay Tina, Sitio Caraman in San Juan, Aglanot and Tina Elementary School in Sitio Pangawitaw.
